Yes, tuning will void the manufacturers warranty in almost all cases. This is not to say that you will have your warranty denied if you return to the manufacturer for warranty work, there have been plenty of documented cases where the dealer is not concerned that the vehicle has been tuned, and carries out the warranty work. As with all things, please use due caution and research accordingly, it is possible to have warranty denied as a result of tuning work.

What is the difference between Stage 1, Stage 2, and Stage 3 tuning?

Stage 1 is designed to suit stock hardware completely. This calibration package is engineered head to toe through our R&D program to enhance the engines operating conditions under all scenarios to improve power, torque, throttle response and drivability, without changing hardware. Stage 2, as above, but is best suited to a downpipe upgrade (for turbo vehicles) and header upgrades (for naturally aspirated vehicles). Stage 3, as above, takes the addition of a supported upgraded turbocharger and in some cases additional fuelling hardware, to deliver the highest possible level of performance. These upgrades can range from a really neat, tidy performance boost, all the way up to a hyper-car killer. The sky is the limit.

Is ECU tuning safe for my engine?

Ecotune take reliability characteristics as important as they take performance and drivability characteristics. Reliability is always at the forefront of our calibrations teams minds during our R&D processes. We do not disable factory safeties, in fact, more often than not, we enhance the factory safeties and even go so far as to add our own. As with all things performance tuning, additional load is put on the engine and associated powertrain components when you make enhanced power and torque, so please plan accordingly.

Will I need to use premium fuel after tuning?

Accepted Answer

We do support tuning options for 95ron and 98ron, but no longer support 91ron. A 98ron oriented tune operates best on 98ron, but will operate fine under general driving scenarios on 95ron if absolutely required. Full engine safeties are maintained and this ensures that under extreme circumstances, you can operate on a lower grade fuel until you are able to fill up with 98.
